I heard some wierd info that the joker is actually still dead and he appears as an illusiin from fear gas to fighters like in batman arkham origins

They bring in Sub-Zero because guest characters sell the most to them. Boon himself has stated that Scorpion was the best selling DLC character in Injustice 1, and both Alien and Predator were that for Mortal Kombat X.

They'll probably stick to Beast Boy from now on since he's pretty much the only character as requested as Red Hood at this point.
