hey guys small test update for spider-man recently discovered that many capcom characters have some frames missing turns out capcom cut frames for MVC2, and many mugen chars are based on Kong's anims which are ripped from MVC2... coincidentally, when researching this, stumbled upon topic at mugenguild, where author named "Violin Ken" just a week ago restored those missing frames for spider-man!
spend a few hours transferring those to Zvitor's spider-man. here is the result (did skip blurred get hit frames though):
literally every basic attack has at least 1 additional unique frame (in some cases 2-3) some movements, like dashes and jumps and most get hits have additional shaking frame
you can see difference on examples here:
so far it seems that all COTA characters (12) and MSH characters (+10) have some of those frames missing if mugen version is based on MVC2. now i would have to go through every of my x-men capcom chars to figure it out. bothers me alot. venom seems not be affected by this cut
ps. also included new better ai, so spidey actually has more than 50% chance of beating villains now

The fact the the 1 or 2 added frames makes it flow better is amazing

yeah guys, seems that most capcom marvel chars are affected by such cuts only cable, marrow and venom not affected by this, since they came out in later games gambit, rogue, sabretooth seem to have only additional gethit shake frames cut (previously i thought they are complete) but all cota and msh chars have gethits, attacks and movements frames cut, sometimes whole animations unused you can check, for example cyclops:
minus optic blast effects MVC2 frames: 551; COTA frames: 711. 160 frames just missing in MVC2

if you guys curious, here is stats for COTA chars. this is only body sprites, not counting effects, cape anims, etc. although those may also have cut frames. also mvc2 in some cases have completely new moves, so real missing frame count may be even higher

colossus - 536 - 661 (125 missing) cyclops - 551 - 711 (160 missing) iceman - 767 - 783 (only 26 missing. maybe new hypers/specials in mvc2) juggernaut - 276 - 538 (267 missing! although many are from his cut metal girder mode which was completely cut) magneto - 873 - 1114 (241! missing. probably some boss moves are cut) omegared - 676 - 827 (151 missing) Psylocke - 773 - 712 (more frames in mvc2, because has new moves, i know cota has more frames in some anims) silversamurai - 503 - 573 (70 missing) spiral - 669 - 646 (more frames in mvc2 - probably new moves) storm - 664 - 669 (only 5 missing, probably new moves in mvc2) wolverine - 443 - 786 (343! missing, wolvie really got the short end of the stick)
only approximate, but just so people who are interested can get the picture situation should be more or less the same with MSH chars (cap America, iron man, hulk, thanos, drdoom, etc) spiderman had around 80+ additional frames
ps. not all mugen versions have frames cut, some actually have COTA/MSH frames restored like Wolverine by Sander, Sentinel by Xslaught, Savage Hulk by Buyog, etc. but most mugen versions do have those frames cut sadly

A great improvment, zvitor make Always good chars,but he also use only parts of original frames for animations

yes, sometimes i go down this route taking a break from goblins trying to sort x-men chars missing sprites but it is a lot of work, not a light side-activity turns out even wolverine by Sander who looked like the most complete char is missing quite a bit of capcom frames, not even mentioning the rest who are in a far worse shape...
i really want to work on this at some point and restore all frames to x-men chars i used in my compilation cannot even launch and use this x-men mugen anymore after knowing all those issues
