[OpenBOR] Avengers United Battle Force

Thanks to everyone who voted at Nightcrawler pool (a lot of people, specially at FB). We decided (in fact, people had voted for) to use the version B, from the arcade game.

I've made (with help of GODzilla) a run animation for him, since the arcade version lacks one

(I will still polish it)

And he is also helping me with the sword sprites, so Nightcrawler will carry a sword at his back and in Swashbuckler mode he will use his sword (cutlass) in some moves.


oh, btw, Nightcrawler will have a very unique feature - he will be invisible to enemies while in dark stages. So enemies won't try to hurt him unless he executes an offensive move,

Jhfer is working on Nightcrawler smart palette, so we can have many different costumes for him. And he also made an AWESOME work with the smartpal for a future playable character, which I can't reveal right now. HINT: He/she is an X-MEN

I am trying to make a great game, as polished as I can. I would love to be as fast as other coders, but my goal is to great a better game (with no offense to the others), something to be a reference for OpenBOR. This is why (plus some other things at my RL) this project is 4 years old already - I am a 40 years old man struggling to continue with this hobby.

I had some help of some friends, so somethings will be a little faster now.
Here are some new info:

(and before someone ask, no, he will not be a normal character. I have no plans for it, sorry).

Now it has some more info about the characters. There will be 3 different information:

- EXTRA MODE > For characters which have an extra mode, where they have different special moves (2 or more) and other things, like different name, stats, etc like Emma Frost or Spider-Woman. (Iron Man will be promoted to this category on the future)
- POWER SETS> For characters which can change one of their special moves by inputing DOWN DOWN ATTACK (or UP UP ATTACK), like Hawkeye and Black Widow
- ALT. MOVES > For characters which has a different attack based on his palette/costume, but not a whole new mode, like Thor, Wolverine and Iron Man.



Brand is a special case - she is the only character which has both EXTRA MODE and POWER SETS.

Her development process is going great, thanks for some help I had.


I still need to take care about a lot of things before finish her, since I like to polish and check a character before I release it.

I am just not sure about one thing: Should I release her in the next bug fix update or wait for a new release?
The next update will have a new helper + bug fixes, but no new content aside from that.

It is a very bad feeling to post this, but it is a sincere homage.

Some updates:

- BlackCat now has a 3 slash combo (like her Mugen counterpart).
Her combo is D,F+Attack > Attack > D,F+Attack (finisher)


- Iron Man can now grab and execute moves. War Machine will receive new grab attacks too.


- Launcher effect added. Now every attack which has a follow up after the launcher has a different effect.


Almost finished with Black Widow. Expect a release soon.

Now Brand's blue flames will burn the enemies in blue too. She got some modifications, like release a burst of flame when she lands after the dive kick.

Showing Nightcrawler's new "Swashbuckler" mode. What changes in this mode?

- Combo finishers are now made with the sword (and sharp attacks deal more damage to certain enemies)

- Different back throw deals more damage

- Two new specials
• D, F + A Dash Slash (can be chained with D, F + A again for a second slash or with D, U + A for an aerial attack or even a third slash)
• D,U+A Teleport Slash
- Specials spend more MP than normal mode

- New hyper - En Store. Faster than normal drive but shorter range

And we can also see the new helper - Moondragon.
