guys, post any feedback or ideas that could make these games more fun
does the boss character need blocking ability?
maybe there is a place for a hyper, where boss summons new bunch of minions?
anything like that, that will not require many new sprites

again, these are not meant to be full or playable character, just a little side-activity like street fighter smash the car stuff, to space out the monotomy of default mugen arcade

maybe there are also some ideas of a completely new type of minigame? i couldnt think of anything good so far

ps. i also know that winpose is missing and voice lines not present in this one, thats on the agenda, default punisher kingpin just didnt had any of those animations present, and i only used default capcom sprites here (for the kingpin body)
I already had the opportunity to try it! It's really fantastic! I emphasize the Kingpin sprites are quite good, I even thought that if they were combined with the sprites of the Kingpin of Gartanham, a quite interesting complete character could be obtained.

Speaking of other things, I tried the minigame with three or four different characters, in some of them the special attacks (such as Koldskool Spiderman's Web Swing) go through the enemies without damaging them as if they had no hitbox, as I said this only happens with Some characters I don't know if it's an error of the chars or the minigame but you could try it with the characters of the Spiderman Game to be sure.

Finally, have you thought about the game having a story? With this I began to imagine bullseye as a sub-boss in the Venom stage (Fisk Towers) once defeated the Kingpin minigame and his thugs would come (since he rarely fights alone) and after that I always thought that Dr Octopus is a excellent final boss for the game in a plot where the Kingpin financially supports Dr Octopus to carry out an experiment (perhaps the artificial sun that is seen in his respective scenario?) arriving at his underground laboratory to finally defeat him and thus save the day or for the opposite will dominate the city if you choose a villain XD

thanks man) and yep, its just default kingpin sprites with color separation, good juicy colors and a new head by Prime Op
so basically, if Gratanham ever wants to update his sprites the same way, it is the exact same base. (although it would require quite a bit of time, while doing this i gained alot of respect for creators who do color separation patches, it is much more time consuming, than i thought)

and yeah, missing attacks is the aspect that frustrates me as well, but sadly, thats just how those minigames set up:

in short, the real character is not even present, hes just invisible, no hitboxes, no animations, no sprites. all "thugs" and even the "boss" character are helpers. so they cannot get into a custom state. and even damage is just a fixed negative "lifeadd" modificator, so they not really receving actual damage, they just remove life from the lifebar at fixed value for getting hit and at a higher value for getting knock down hit

basically all attacks that have opponent grabbed and thrown around in some way, wouldnt work on helpers
i started to re-code boss character as a regular character, and leave only thugs as helpers, so those moves would work at least on the boss, but its still a wip, and im not yet sure it would work perfectly with autoturn and all, but maybe it will be a fix

and yep, i thought about story too man, i actually thought about taking the ps1 games spider man 1 and spider man 2 enter electro cutscenes sounds, and follow similar story, just combined in 1 game, since many characters already using voices from that game (and replace the ones thats not). but yeah, that game didnt had kingpin, but cutscenes for those could be added from other games. and thats a great plot, you suggesting man, especially since it really fits some stages themes "Lizard and lizards" beat-em-up minigame - Page 2 670481599 i think those ps1 custscenes could be manipulated properly to fit this plot

yeah, i remember that game. there was also a minigame based on streets of rage (bare knuckle) and it worked very well, better than those current minigames we have. i will take a look at all of them sometime and maybe try to combine the best aspects, if i can

they work as a regular hydra attacks, hand attack, prime sentinel attack, acolytes, etc, those type of games. just a few differences like only attacks on the boss damage health, etc

it s interesting
i like the way as kingpin boss have more life than other characters
you give us up new horizons to use characters without all sprites
but you should add voices,sounds and intro/endings

and we could try to improve kingpin as complete character
it s a good starting point to improve gartanham version

have fun!!!

Yes it's time consuming for color steps that's why I stoped after two face lol but it's beautiful and ps1 spider man is my favorite story but I'd love to get those thugs in too a mini game too that be awesome if we could um try looking at Juni and juri they can be used at the same time I think they are sf alpha and that might work and make everyone grab able I think not sure we need to get a bunch of suit enemys like in the punisher arcade game or the spider man arcade game right now we just have a bunch of low street thugs I know I shouldn't be picky but this is something I have been wanting for a long time

hey guys, so i recoded this minigame for the boss character to be able to get hit by those moves that require custom state (so no missing attacks anymore! they still miss on thugs though..)
i didnt have time yet to test it properly, but i think the best test is to upload it anyway)

since this one was majorly changed in terms of coding, there might be other issues that could appear (although i havent seen any yet)
also added block ability and few voicelines
and a simple hyper where he summons 6 additional goons

@Shining, yep, thats the idea man. characters like Sauron and savage land mutates, etc, any character that can have minions
and whatever Gratanham wants to do, but i think that color separation and new head really improves the look

Check new version, cross, boss is now grabable, just not the minions. SoR2 game has grabable helpers, but they disappear upon a grab.. im not sure it is possible to make all helpers grabable tbh, but hopefully im wrong

ps. i wouldve liked suit enemies also, we are on the same page here. street thugs are more fitting to someone like tombstone
this is mostly for the test guys

ps. ai fixed, link updated. to 4 people who were quick enough to download from this post, you may redownload, this is final version for now

pps. ive just seen an issue where kingpin sprite appear where it not suppose to, i dont know how to fix it for now, will try next weekend guys

no flood in the debug anymore

if you test it, please, be on a lookout for any duplicate kingpin sprites that appear for a split second (i manage to saw those before, but i think it is fixed). and let me know if you see those

if its good, this might be the template for those minigames "boss character with thugs" for all to use)

i will not work on kingpin minigame anymore, maybe just add a proper winpose (current one sucks) and more voicelines, but thats it
i fixed the bug with random kingpin sprites appearing (it was actually much easier solution, i already started doing crazy stuff, trying to figure it out). previous version still had it. you can see it, if you put game speed on slow9 and put someone like 2 symbiote spiders vs kingpin minigame in a watch mode, you will clearly see those appear for a split second when killing a bunch of thugs

i couldnt really rest easy, knowing there is a buggy version out there
and sorry for thousands of versions reupload, but it was really hard to understand if its fixed or not, until i discovered that slow9 2 symbiotes spiders method

i think its finally could be called as a template for those "boss and thugs" minigame, the only difference from hydra attack/prime sentinel really, is that boss character is grabbable, can get into a custom state, and he is the only one who receives damage to the lifebar, and also proper damage values, instead of the fixed ones

ps. im going minimum on those minigames guys, just enough animations to make it function for ai
there is still sinister and deathstrike update looming over me, i feel like its a must-do thing

A Kingpin as bonus does sound good but I do prefer him as a non-bonus character for I'm used to him in media being head on when it comes to fighting heroes especially after watching 3 seasons of Daredevil and Hawkeye show.

I'm still hoping for @Bradern to return and share his works [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
his and yours seems to be a like for it's a Spider-man centered project, difference is that you gave us a chance to try it out even when not finish while his is still on it's way.

Still, it's fun to have another version mode of this character now. So thanks as usual for sharing quality works Very Happy

and yeah, just like lizard, kingpin doesn't really have good and easy base. Capcom one from punisher is good, but just a few sprites there, I'm really surprised that Gratan and Cross are able to squeeze new animations out of it. It's one of those really hard characters to make solid sprites of, let along animations. Bradern uses a hard base also, where he basically have to draw all the elements over the body

I personally do like him as a mini game more tbh, I think out of all important villains him and lizard really fit to have minions fight with them and to not be playable also. And Capcom quality sprites for this guy are just out of reach for now, I've tried to do it myself too, but I can't achieve even what other guys did manage to do, so Im just leaving it as is, Capcom sprites are enough for a mini game to work

And yeah man, with spider man mugen I honestly thought I was done after 1st upload, but new ideas, new stuff, new bugs just keep coming up, so I'm continuing for now ahah

guys, started working on this finally, just did a stance, (just 3 frames, but enough for a minigame)

dont really like that he is on the small-ish side again
maybe its because of hunched over stance, but it is sadly a necessity, because tiger upper body is too big, compared to ghostkick legs, so only in hunched over animations it looks proportional "Lizard and lizards" beat-em-up minigame - Page 2 629558521 wouldnt really be able to make his stand straight because of that, expect maybe 1 or 2 sprites like a winpose

but yeah, a little preview Smile

Tiger's body is too big for ghostkick yet you manage do some amazing first 3 frames. I think he still looks big, he's even wider than Rhino Very Happy
