Help with Codes for "Item Dropping"

Does anybody knows any tutorial or video, or maybe just could give a good explanation about how to make items drop randomly during a fight when I attack the opponent?
Kinda like the way Marvel Super Heroes works dealing with the gems, for example...

Electr0 created something that may help you as part of his interactive mugen. He does use stagevar though for coding, so you may have to modify the coding. Here is a pack with the code, sprites, and sounds you will need. Electr0 has a tutorial in the code file for each item on how to use it. Hope this helps.
