Adding hidden slots to a screenpack

so i'm updating my screenpack currently. i'd like to know if adding hidden slots to the select screen is as simple as coding in additional rows and having one of them blank so as the new rows with hidden chars doesn't even show up on the screen, but one can scroll to their availability?
