Anybody who's been playing mugen for long enough has doubtless read the name Aiduzzi. "But who is that?", you're wondering. To refresh your memory, he is an italian artist and programmer who created four characters famous for their wierdness and originality: Ella, Ubu, Giano, and Kuando.
He also created 5 stages as well, but after that didn't make any more stuff for M.U.G.E.N. But as it turns out, I recently discovered that Aiduzzi is actually multiple creators under one name, who were creating their own fighting game featuring those characters!
Spoiler:
They have an Indiegogo for the game, where they explained a lot about it. For one, Team Aiduzzi was aiming for a July-August 2017 release of the game, which will be available on Steam and possibly Xbox One and PS4 (But that would've been a large maybe). Secondly, the game would not have been free. Although M.U.G.E.N itself is a free engine, Aiduzzi was collaborating with Elecbyte (The original creator of M.U.G.E.N itself), and had purchased a licensed version of it for commercial use. Thirdly, they were going to give Ubu a massive update to make him more original, as his old sprites were pieced together from other characters. They would also have been drawing their own pretty explosions:
Spoiler:
Every stage would have been carefully crafted and animated, and on top of all that... Fourth: They were crafting a custom version of the M.U.G.E.N engine for their game that would have had the following features: Story Mode: Each character plays through their own story, explaining their origins and their respective goals. Arcade Mode: As described on the Indiegogo page, "Rounds upon rounds of tournament style fights." Training Mode: Exactly what it says. And... Finally, something M.U.G.E.N has never had... Tag Team Mode: Pick a partner and tag them in during matches. And on top of all that, Online Play: For kicking people's asses and teaming up with friends!
Spoiler:
Fifth: I'm not even going to try explaining this in my own words... (Copy+Paste time) "Cross Impact (CI) and Perfect Cross Impact (PCI) System is a new kind of mechanics in a Beat’em’up. When you are in a difficult situation, you can now try to defend with an attack! Some attacks have auto guard impact properties which can transform a defense into a lethal opening window for an attack. Maybe a devastating combo! But don’t think that it will be easy! Your opponent can react with a Cross Charge Reaction (CCR). Every CCR brings each character to an unique spectacular scene where two fighters challenge each other (every character has a different reaction with each opponent that he(or she) fights!) with the result of charging their power meters. So CI, PCI and CCR are a technical and spectacular new system to attack an opponent and also defend yourself from him!" ...Is it just me, or does all this sound awfully awesome?! Sixth: With all of this, on top of that there would've been a "Purple Pain" special edition, featuring four extra characters (For a grand total of 12), a "More Intense" part of the story, an extra "Madness" powerbar for even more moves for every character, and a new End of The World move for every character, which simultaneously makes your opponent regret their birth and destroys planet Earth... Essentially a graphically beautiful, probably cinematic OHKO. Seven: Plenty of T-Shirts and other merchandise for those who donate to the Indiegogo.
The game's story revolves around a special food called the loboeucarixtus (I don't know) that brings out the recipient's worst traits and turns them into a moral monster, while simultaneously giving them some really wierd abilities. Just look at Giano for a good example:
Many powerful people, both who have eaten the loboeucarixtus and who haven't, would struggle to control it's enormous power. Like Ubu Vagrante (Nice name), who before he ate it was just an old man. (I think Ubu might be the story's main protagonist, but I'm not sure.)
However, the indiegogo campaign failed to meet it's goal of $87,000. (Which, let's face it, is a ridiculous amount of money.) Due to the creators apparently not getting enough attention, only one person backed the game, and now I'm not sure what'll happen to it. It'll be a damn shame if this never takes off, seeing all the stuff that's being made. Check it out here and give me your opinions: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rotten-core-a-bizarre-old-school-fighting-game-games-horror#/ I personally think the creators should have reached out to youtubers. It would have gotten them a lot of attention. I found this after wondering if Aiduzzi made any other characters. There's suprisingly few mentions of it on the web. P.S. Lemme know if this is the wrong place to post this. EDIT: Since I don't want to double post, here's the game's trailer.

first, do not worry about double posting. MMV isn't worried about it. we also don't worry about necro posting either ****unless**** it is in a project topic where the person is only asking about progress in various capacities (what %, where download link, when will this be done, is this still being worked on, etc)
anyway, thank you for the discussion as you are correct, it sucks that aiduzzi quit. but that happens in a hobby like mugen

What a damn shame! I would have killed to play a full game based off of these guys. Hopefully it will come back in some form in the future.

Same! And it's nice to finally have some backstory to them as well! For instance, Giano is Ubu's schizophrenic brother who was locked in an asylum. And only Ubu knows exactly what Ella is and where she came from. ...Also nice to know why they're so wierd.
Still, $87,000 is a lot to ask. Maybe they would have had more success on Kickstarter instead of Indiegogo.

Yeah, at least we have the characters though. I wonder why $87,000. Either they overestimated their costs a ton or it's a lot more than just a slightly altered mugen engine game.
