| he needs some work, but he is okay so far. please fix the commands, they really don't make sense for me. it's very hard to pull off combos when the commands are messed up. | |

| Vol made some really good feedback, but if I could add something and this isn't just for you. This is something I see a lot of users do and it makes me crazy. Align your sprites. What I do is I open my new character, and the character whose base I am using and I lay them on top of each other. Open them both and click on animations and I try to make the individual frams line up as best I can. They're not always ALL there, but the ones that are, I fix. You have to look at the way he body moves too. Sometimes you have the wrong foot planted when he moves. Nobody ever throws a punch and has the back leg move backwards behind them. The back foot is planted and the BODY moves forward pushing AWAY from the back foot. You planted his front foot and THAT foot should move. Try to throw a punch like how you made him do it. It's weird and awkward, right? When you align your sprites, you can also look how Urien's animations are timed and time Atom's in a similar way. Yes, we would like to be different, but not so different that he's not animated smoothly anymore. You can especially see this when he walks. His waist should always be in the same area. Most people focus on the head, but I do the waist, but at the same time I make sure the head isn't moving too much either. It's a balance. If a character looks like he's moving in a way people don't move, it will be noticed. When you do a good job right, nobody notices! Sometimes I paste one frame of the Stand animation into the beginning of every basic move so I can line up the Stances to not look weird when he changes animation. Keep them in the same spot. I might make a video about this later. I feel like I'm not explaining well. I'm not picking on you personally. Like I said there are quite a few people not doing this. I'm not saying you HAVE to, but it makes your character look and play so much better. If you look at my Beetle, he's layered on top of Iceman. Jubilee is on top of Eliza. Nick Fury is aligned with Cable, etc. Does this make sense? I love the work you've done so far and I know taking criticism as a creator is hard, but it means people are excited about your work and want to see it grow even more! | |
