It is from a remastered version of a very old 8-bit NES video game -- A Boy And His Blob:

The MUGEN stage shown in my "Custom A Boy And His Blob" MUGEN WIP GIFs is a stage in the remastered version of "A Boy and his Blob". But too bad I don't have access to the source game so I could just find some JPEG image only and try to convert that to a simple static MUGEN stage (the boy's house) for my "Custom A Boy And His Blob":

The start of this remastered version mission is the MUGEN stage I have made (the boy's house). Well, my MUGEN version is just a big JPEG image (and I kind of cut the house entrance out and make it a top-most layer).
