| I am a Chinese and I think I might be one of the few Chinese groups that are still *kind-of* active these days........ There are some notable *still-active* Chinese MUGEN groups I know of: Baidu MUGEN Tieba: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?ie=utf-8&kw=mugen&fr=search 2DIYER: http://www.2diyer.com/ Ali213 MUGEN forum: http://game.ali213.net/forum-1022-1.html After the closure of the great MUGENChina, the MUGEN Chinese groups are quite limited now. | |

| Most Chinese MUGEN folks nowadays are just DOM (Download-Only-Member). Very few of them are into MUGEN making business. And some of their taste have been going to extreme - some only like Hentai MUGEN stuff while some only like crazy A.I. competition stuff. I think it is safe to say I am one of the very few Chinese MUGEN folks who prefer to join non-Chinese MUGEN communities and to make "normal" things for MUGEN on a regular basis.
When the great MUGENChina was still alive, I was a member over there (and at MFG/MI/IMT). There were some more Chinese people talking about MUGEN and contributing their MUGEN sharings in those times. But when the great MUGENChina died, many regular posters like Fido and Boomer were just gone all of a sudden. When I returned to the MUGEN scene in 2013 I tried to find Fido and Boomer but there was no success. Even in those three (3) *still-active* Chinese MUGEN groups I mentioned, I couldn't find some of my old-time Chinese MUGEN friends.
My guess is, most old-time Chinese MUGEN folks became older and had to separate real life things and MUGEN'ing to a bigger extent. I believe some day I also go the same path as my real life things grow bigger and bigger. This is not some abnormal thing.
And now for those who have later contact with MUGEN mostly are youngsters who usually have MUCH MORE choices of entertainment (i.e. online games, mobile games, social networking, sports,...etc.) than just PC MUGEN'ing.
Something about Japanese MUGEN scene. I notice some Japanese old-time MUGEN folks are slowing down their MUGEN'ing, or some already put it to a halt. Yet, the rate of Japanese new MUGEN blood is quite constant. I think it is largely due to the fact that Japanese make and play fighting games (be it official or home-made) way more than the rest of the world. And, from my observation in those and these years, Japanese MUGEN people seem to respect each other much and they don't like DOM (Download-Only-Member) at all.
Since this topic is about Japanese and Chinese MUGEN groups, I am not going to talk about the now-seemingly-dead Korean MUGEN group and the well-known Western MUGEN group. | |

| I could be wrong but I got the impression that Japanese kids take animation classes at school so almost everyone in that kind of subject could easily get into and find the mugen channel of interest. I think I saw video somewhere that animation classes at school is a thing now over there. The animation culture was always big there to since astroboy to now anime teen dramas. | |
