Awards Section: How nominations work Empty
PostSubject: Awards Section: How nominations work   Awards Section: How nominations work EmptyJanuary 23rd 2014, 10:06 am

For quarterly/seasonal awards
- Any community member can nominate as many entries as they want
- Any community member can 2nd as many entries that were nominated by others first
- For a nomination to become something eligible to be voted on, a nomination must get seconded by a different forum community member
- No limit on eligible nominations total that can be voted on when the time comes
- You can nominate yourself or your creation if you (or the creation) meet the eligibility standards for that particular award
- You can change your nomination at any time If you are doing that, please make a new reply stating in some capacity how you are revoking one nomination for a different one

For yearly awards
- Any community member can nominate as many entries as they want
- Any community member can 2nd as many entries that were nominated by others first
- For a nomination to become something eligible to be voted on, it must get a minimum of 3 separate nominations from 3 different forum community members
- No limit on eligible nominations total that can be voted on when the time comes
- Any character winning a seasonal/quarterly award is automatically made eligible for yearly awards
- To be eligible for creator of the year, the person must have released at least 2 characters in the year
- Any creator who had a character win a seasonal/quarterly award and released at least 2 characters in the year is automatically eligible for the award
- For updated character of the year awards, a character needed to be released prior to the year in question and then received a major update in the year for the award
- You can nominate yourself or your creation if you (or the creation) meet the eligibility standards for that particular award
- You can change your nomination at any time unless the choice you are trying to change has already gained the required 3 nominations from forum community members to gain eligibility for voting later. If you are doing that, please make a new reply stating in some capacity how you are revoking one nomination for a different one

For further clarification...

If you nominate more than 3, all of those nominations do not count and your official nominations will be void unless you make a followup reply with using only 3 or less nominations.

Be sure to read the rules on the categories. At this point we've had:
- New characters being nominated under the wrong entry (updated)
- Creator nominations of people not eligible due to not releasing 2 or more characters

These statements made here because its easier to address in 1 place as opposed to multiple.

 objection

Doesn't this disqualify MMV nominations? If anyone here votes for anything of ours then they would be voting all from this mugen forum community as opposed to 3 different mugen communities. This rule doesn't make sense. Are you saying we have to cast our nomination votes for MMV Awards in other forums such as IMT, MFG, and CrusaderCast? Or that members exclusively there have to vote for stuff here?

Maybe I'm not understanding something here but the rules are getting too complicated now? What was wrong with the way we had it before?

What about this...

It would be better and easier if we just nominate anyone with 1 nomination and then during voting everyone just makes a vote to choose the best for 1st place. Then the runner ups get 2nd and 3rd place.

And that's all, lets make it plain and simple and direct. More competitors can compete and everyone can just vote right after, maybe even with just a poll voting to so no one has to count post votes and make mistakes while deciding who they think won.

um, 3 different forum community members is regarding 3 of our 2500+ people.

and its been stated numerous times, we're doing our process different to purposely be different from other places. and to give our community a little more in relation to something to do here in a new and fresh way.

its not complicated. once something gets 3 nominations, then its eligible for the voting phase later. the hardest thing is getting people to forget that all inclusion thinking to instead think of the best of the best, which is what we're trying to award.

im confused...im going to the confusion thread..?!?

ok sooo...you can nominate up to 3 things but in order for them to apart of the voting process they have to be nominated by 2 other people as well...and if they are already nominated by 3 people you cant nominate it because their already considered for voting...is that correct? also for someone to be considered for creator of the year they have to have more than 2 creations? am I missing anything here?

pretty much.

to elaborate on the dont try and nominate something already eligible comment, think about it. a member have very few nominations to use. if you use one of them on something already eligible, then they are wasting one of those few nominations.

that is why erroratu was separating the count like he did (which we're very appreciative of) to show whats already eligible and to show how close other things were getting to that point.

Many many people of the new infusion of people placing nominations are wasting their selections due to picking things that have already achieved official nomination due to receiving the 3 nominations before them.

The first post has been edited to take into account easier and more flexible rules when it comes to nominating creations.
