sorry but the law states any thing from a company that you do not own the copy right licence for can not be sold that is characters and stages if it contains a licence character or property with in it it is completely not legal To sell and at any time if one of those company's want they can shut us down for selling their property s and sue for copyright infringement
You can how ever sell your own custom original characters and stages/games that you have made as long as it has no copy right character s in it at all
The mugen engine is open sourced but the characters from the different company 's are not we are allowed to edit and distribute freely as long as there is no profit gaind in doing so from those company's characters or assets
Now you can accept donations for what you have done If people want to donate to help you out they can but they should not be required nor should anything be walled off by a pay wall and they are donating to you not them paying for a character because that is illegait it still needs to be distributed for free
Sorry this is just how the copyright law is and so snk or capcom or any one else don't shut us down and sue you I wanted to let you and everyone else know
here's what the law says we all could face
The legal penalties for copyright infringement are: Infringer pays the actual dollar amount of damages and profits. The law provides a range from $200 to $150,000 for each work infringed. Infringer pays for all attorneys fees and court costs
violation of copyright laws is considered a criminal offense if the violation is willful and involves a certain amount of commercial profit. Offenders can receive up to 5 years in prison
I just asked my friend who's an attorney about this and that what he emailed me
Hope this clears any confusion or misunderstandings about this issue
But that's the point, he's not selling. He's making commissions. On deviantart, thousands of commissions are made every day. As I understand it, you think that by obligation, he should share for free. Only he won't. Nobody can be forced to fulfill someone else's will.
Sorry, but you are the ones who are wrong to want to sabotage other people.
Create your stuff, it's better than hating other people for their creations.

these men created characters ... ok they have created, but all the suits, powers, hyper and names are created from other creators like DC, Marvel etc these men used all of that and only edited some sprites of a Snk character, they put all the powers, names, etc. and they create something that they think is their property and sell it ... amazing!

I don’t think there’s an issue commissioning someone to create something for you. I only find an issue when people try to sell edits/chars after they made it for themselves personally… big difference but I’d rather not bash SD. Clearly they’re talented and create epic chars even though we’ll probably never be able to play as anything posted on that channel within the past 3 years.
It’d probably be best to somehow track down whoever commissioned the char…. I’ve seen ppl commission kenshiro to make MVC edits and then publicly release them so anything is possible.
Opinions are opinions though and we should appreciate what we have here at MMV.. big pimp brought us Sinister and next Doc Ock, yolomate and Spector always give us whatever palette we ask of them, matrerog brings backgrounds to life, and I could go on and on….. although I do find it funny that ppl who tease us with chars we’ll never be able to play use stuff in their videos like the stages matrerog made lol

I suppose you have a good point. I shouldn't be hating on the Scruffy Dragon crew just because I don't agree with them. They are really good at making characters and if I don't agree with their decisions I should just ignore them instead of bashing them, since at the end of they day they are a fellow "mugen colleague"

I love SD’s characters, I just wish they still shared the same mentality ppl on MMV have. It’s kind of hard to get behind people when you read the replies and some times the author comes off as a jerk… it’s like yeah, I’m sure you’re annoyed people keep asking for a download link but what do you expect? You can’t post a video of a finished char and not expect people to want it. The only issue i have with them is there’s too many loopholes to get chars. I’m a fan but I can’t remember the last time they released something.
A lot of ppl act like they don’t want to release something because it’s gonna get uploaded at a warehouse. I don’t see a prob with those sites honestly. A lot of these other sites links die. If I download a O Ilu character from his site or a warehouse, at the end of the day I’m still gonna know who the author is… but if they’re getting paid off links to your chars then yeah I see an issue

The main reason I dislike them is because of their attitude. I tried talking to them in their comment section once and they proceeded to ridicule me, insult me, and accuse me of trying to steal their chars after I told them several times I didn't want the char and was actually a fan of them.

I really think you should do it. Just to clean the drama and stuff, nothing against their work.
Also, I read the coments in the video, apparently they are close to the milestone they set some years ago, they will release some chars when that happens, thats cool.

I say delete SD related topics if drama does arise but if we’re having civilized discussions then we can keep going. I think the recent replies are all good discussions. It’s cool to name the pros and cons of stuff, even if something has more cons than pros lol
And yes @Somm, I read those comments. Looks like they just need more Facebook likes… I say we all help them get them and see if they fulfill their promise to release War machine and iron Man… I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? Maybe if they see how we band together it’ll remind them of what they use to be and they’ll change their current tune… Just an idea

@Somm My friend, they SD since before the videos say "this year we will publish this char ...." and before never publish it ... I hope that one day they will change their minds and these people understand this only hobby ... the time is only for a hobby not for a real job!
