Now a pair of words about what's in it.
The game is Mortal Kombat based spin-off, that is centered around ninjas - Shirai Ryu, Lin Kuei and others. The gameplay is however a bit different. Although the controls remained the same, the mechanics changed. It was done to bring balance to the game, that had little to no balance with 4-5 special moves per character (now each has nearly 15).
First of all, the controls:
a - Low punch
b - Low kick
c - Run
x - High punch
y - High kick
start - Tag
use F12 for taking screenshots, Pause Break for pausing the game, Alt+Enter to switch to full screen mode and Esc. for quitting
A bit more about the gameplay. Each special move (mostly qcf/qcb + something) now has pros and contras, so each move might be useful in certain situations. UMK3 style uppercuts, close combos, throws etc. are still there. Most of the juggles you might remember from UMK3 will not work. The game is mostly about countering, punishing and mindgaming, although some characters can do crazy juggles. Another element of balance is the Ground damage - some moves do their full damage only after p2 touches the ground, so you would think twice before coming up with a juggle.
Tag mode is about you teaming up with the computer (p2 in pair modes) and switching during the battle. This works mostly like Tekken Tag Tournament (switching from uppercuts is also present).
Now about the AI. The AI here has a few "tactics". the tactic is a type of player that its trying to portray. the tactics are:
- still - an average player, he's ok to all the moves
- disciplined - portrays those guys who played classic MK games a lot, never uses the post-classic moves
- aggressive - this guy is simple, he runs into you and tries to dial up a massive combo, rushing like a bull
- defensive - oh hi turtle! this one stand or sits blocking most of the time and is also familiar with counters and reversals
- precise - this one portrays a "pro". he's perfect with juggles and links, but relies on predictable yet effective schemes
- insane - a simple spammer. fireball, fireball, fireball etc. may seem scary, but easy to punish
- desperate - this one starts aggressive, but tones down to defensive after you hit him
- restrained - vice-versa - starts defensive, but seeks to avenge any of his life points lost
- ambitious - this one shows off as a pro first, but turns into spammer once his life drains low
- different - just switches his tactic in each round
- unfair - warning, cheater! this one has some infinite combos unaccesible for human players. quite a challenge
- chaotic - switches his tactic whenever he wants, just like a real person would do.
That's all for now, fell free to try it and describe your feelings. I'll try to come up with some screenshots and mirror links a bit later
