I've done some commissions for some people reserved way and now decided to do this openly, anyway I think I've got some experience
To avoid getting overwhelmed, I will limit the number of job I can get at the same time.

What can I do?

I can do custom special effects, from scratch, in high resolution for your characters, such as explosions, crashes, lightning, impact effects, etc.

Some examples below. The effects someone commissions me are opensource.

I can animate sprites (existing ones) to make new poses as idles, attacks, victory poses, etc.

$ 12 for the first animation (up to 10 frames, $ 1 for each additional frame).
From the second animation and beyond, $ 10 per animation. The price may vary according to the complexity.

I can do special effects 3D animations, like projectiles, effects, etc animated at 60fps or less.

I can program characters (or stages), either adding new moves or programming the complete character.

rules:
- I do not code KOF characters. It's not my style.
- I program the characters in my style, which is heavily influenced by the MVC gameplay. Other styles are subject to review.
- Although I do not like this type of character, I accept to code hentai characters. But it may not involve illegal things, such as minors.

Wow... I thought that mugen exist for free... so all this time I can get money for my family...? Wow... seems like a good idea, haha.

Mugen is free, but people can make commissions for stuff. Its something very common

What M.U.G.E.N?

M.U.G.E.N is a 2D fighting game engine, originally released in 1999.

simple as downloading the content of your choice, and configuring
M.U.G.E.N to know about it.

M.U.G.E.N is designed to be used by people with little or no
programming experience, but with some artistic talent and patience to
learn. Of course, having some programming background does give you a
bit of a headstart. However, if you are just looking to play with
downloaded content, all you need to know is how to unzip files and
edit a text file.

That is the question: I am not selling anything. I am selling services. Its like when an artist does a fan art and sell it. It would be a sale if I charge for each download, but I am not making it.

I don't know from which rock you came under, but commissions are very, very common for very long time. Check at MFG and you will see how much people does this.

Well, as he said, the download of chars are free, so donations are something acceptable...
C'mon, I even found some forums where you had to pay to see download links

To me, this is just a way to get some extra money, because, here in Brazil, things ain't easy nowadays... And he is a great coder and spriter, it can be really good for those chars which you can't find determinated animation to add an attack and things like it... It just means that he will do it in a more "focused" way too

he releases lots of great chars/open bor games without askin any sort of payment
he offers a service-->you need it-->you pay
                         -->you do not need it-->ignore it

I agree. Man just suggest his help, but it is still your decision. Besides, be honnest... it is not hard to make a palette, but more hard to make an effect.

I won't be selling any char, you won't see me saying "here is a new character, but if you want it, you need to pay to download".

I will still making characters for free - the ones I want to, as I always did.
No need of drama.
