first thing you should get the openbor manual and a sample mod to understand how things work
like in mugen people uses fight factory we on openbor use openborstats
i can tell you openbor its more easy to learn than mugen, but sometimes do some things in open bor are really BORing compared to mugen eheheh

the first thing you should do is find a mod that you like and start to edit it to learn how things work
but beware, i suggest you to get a simple mod to improve your knowledge with the basics first, because if you get a advanced heavy scripted mod like mine you may get more confused at the begining
