How to create your own paintbrush in Gimp Empty
PostSubject: How to create your own paintbrush in Gimp   How to create your own paintbrush in Gimp EmptySeptember 8th 2018, 5:35 pm

I'm not sure if everyone knows about creating brushes or not in Gimp. I have a video below, but I don't have a microphone to record proper sound, so wrote the instructions.

Examples to use:
Drawing patterns such as stockings on female characters
Drawing Superman's "S" symbol on 100's of sprites
Drawing other body parts or accessories (guns, holsters, belts, etc)
The uses of this are really endless

1. Open a new image in gimp.
- for the video I use a 25*25 pixel image
-for the second video I use a 80*60 pixel image (after resizing)

2. Add transparent layer

3. Create your pattern

4. Export your file as .GIH file

5. Copy .GIH file to C:users\USERNAME\gimp2.8\brushes

6. In gimp right click brushes and refresh

You can use already sprited images, and simply save as a .GIH file, copy that file to the Brushes directory, and refresh your brushes to use your new brush.

Hope this helps.
