TUTORIAL : How tomake an animated GIF into an Avatar

Right so this is my first ever tutorial

so if I make any mistakes I am sorry and will fix them later

A few people asked for this so here I go

As I said its my first time so please be gentle

First you need image manipulation software like photoshop I use gimp2 because its free

Then you need 3 key ingredients

1. An animated gif (you can find them all over  the web)


2. A frame (get that from predators avatar frame thread in graphic arts section)


3. A logo (There are all sorts of font sites out there this one is from dafont)


Got your ingredients ?

Good lets start  .......

open up your frame twice and your logo once using gimp


select your logo and scale to about 130 width



select one of your frames (we will call it frame01) and use the area selection tool click ont the middle of the frame and cut


select your logo and copy, select frame01 and paste then move the logo to where you want it


now open your gif and scale it to 196 height


and crop it to 146 width


It should look like this


now comes the boring bit

select the bottom layer in the gif animation, then cut


select frame02 and paste


copy frame01


and paste it on frame 02


then export it to a png and name it with a number (this one is dead01)


Repeat this for every animation layer remembering to always export each layer as you go (this one had 17 layers)







now close all gimp windows until you get an empty gimp window then open up dead01


select open as layers and open dead02 repeat all the way to dead17


export remembering to change png to gif


remember to tick this box and speed is usually around a hundred but not always so you may need to change it later


well thats it hope it helps those who asked for it
