Problem with Custom Mugen Fonts

Hello all. I've created my own text in Photoshop to use in place of the MvC2 announcer words (what is the proper term for these anway?)
However, in game they show up as discolored and have a purple border around them. (notice just below the Sentinel's head in the 2nd and 3rd shots) Also, please notice the life portraits as I'm unable to correct them as well.



I'm new to Photoshop but willing to learn how to correct this. (Credits to mazemerald for screen pack, Arkady and the AvX team) Any help appreciated

Perhaps you might need to make sure the new font sprites are having 256 colors only and its palette index color is the transparency color........

I'm not familiar with Photoshop, how do I change the files to the settings  recommended?

I don't even have/use Photoshop.

I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.

This is what I do all the times:

in case servimg not working for you...:

1 ) open the original image
2 ) lower it to 256-color
3 ) set transparency color (I use 255 0 255 most of the times)
4 ) save palette (*.pal file)
5 ) use text editor to open the saved palette
6 ) move the transparency color 255 0 255 to the palette index color:

7 ) load the changed palette to the image
8 ) save the updated image

I'm trying to upload progress through imgur. What's the correct method to upload pics on this forum?
