| I looked at Starfire's "Starbolt StormX" hyper beam MUGEN code and found that its Helper "StormX" hyper beam has two HitDef's like these: - Code:
-
type = HitDef trigger1 = time = 0 || time = 2 || time = 5 || time = 8 || time = 11 trigger2 = time = 14 || time = 17 || time = 20 || time = 23 || time = 26 attr = S, HP ;Attribute: Standing, Normal Attack damage = 28, 1
type = HitDef trigger1 = time = 29 attr = S, HP ;Attribute: Standing, Normal Attack damage = 28, 1 HyperCombinationFinish, the MUGEN author of Starfire, was so generous to make the guard damage of Starfire's "Starbolt StormX" hyper beam so low (with the value of 1) and even put guard.dist = 320 there to let P2 detect almost a full-screen (assume your MUGEN is within 320x240) guard distance to have a super easy guard-able. So, the normal damage output shall be 11*28=308 maximum. With a "P.o.t.S Damage Dampener, MvC Style" damage dampener on the AttackMulSet, its damage has been scaled down for bit combo hit count as expected (i.e. a 3-hit combo linked to hyper beam, the damage output becomes (0.8^3=0.512)*308=158). And the damage scaling doesn't depend on MUGEN play modes. It is working just fine. I tried to use her in my MUGEN1.0 and this is the case. So, what I want to say is, all pieces in Starfire's "Starbolt StormX" hyper beam look and sound normal and reasonable to me. For a level1 hyper beam move, 308 maximum damage should be fine, and it even has a working damage dampener. The "50% damage" thing might be due to MUGEN Simul match defense multiple factor that Dr. Strange/Captain Atom are using........hence please allow me to do Starfire a justice...... | |

| @volzzilla: >> borewood...so you are saying starfire's code works differently in simul mode? or potentially all characters do that? Nope. I was saying Starfire's hyper beam code damage does not depend on MUGEN modes. I tried her hyper beam move in all MUGEN modes and the damage output is consistent. This might be the defense set up of Dr. Strange/Captain Atom. | |
