With comic-book shows everywhere these days, is Fox getting ready to expand its X-Men empire to the small screen?
It's a pretty good time to be a fan of the X-Men movie universe. We've got another team adventure coming in Apocalypse, a Deadpool solo film and a sequel to The Wolverine on the way, along with whispers of things like X-Force. Now it looks like even more live-action X-fun could be developing.
Bleeding Cool reports that they've got sources who say a live-action X-Men TV series is in "deep development" at Fox (the studio, not the network, just to be clear), and at least some networks are apparently interested in it. The report offers no other details, so we have no idea if the series would be connected in any way to the movie universe, or if any of the movie characters would be reworked for TV with new actors, but given how hot superhero TV shows are right now, it seems entirely plausible that Fox has this in the pipeline.
The X-Men have a long TV history when it comes to animation, but apart from three seasons of Mutant X (which wasn't really an X-Men show), they've never really made it in live-action TV. Looking around at the new success Fox is having on the big screen with these characters, though, it seems like now might be the time to test those waters. link: http://www.blastr.com/2014-10-6/live-action-x-men-tv-series-reportedly-deep-development | |
