Two ancient texts confirm the end date of the Mayan Long Count calendar on the winter solstice of this year, which is Dec. 21, 2012. That day is the last day of the 13th bak'tun, or 144,000-day cycle, of the calendar. Ancient Maya would have seen the end of the 13th bak'tun as the end of a full cycle of creation.

However, experts in Mayan history say the end of the Long Count calendar is the equivalent of needing to buy a new calendar every year in December — not a harbinger of doomsday.

"This new evidence suggests that the 13 bak'tun date was an important calendrical event that would have been celebrated by the ancient Maya; however, they make no apocalyptic prophecies whatsoever regarding the date," Marcello Canuto, the director of Tulane University Middle America Research Institute, told LiveScience after the discovery of an ancient text referring to the date.

Not all apocalypse believers think the Mayan Apocalypse will bring fire and brimstone, or extinguish life on Earth. According to John Hoopes, a scholar of Maya history at the University of Kansas, many believers see the day as a time of spiritual transformation.

I heard it's not the end but the start of some major disasters and wars, though that's not really different from what we're all ready experience at the moment

if you believe in this kind of thing, its not long from now.

My theories:

they ran out of space on the calander
the rest of the years are on the back of the wall or whatever they found the calender was
they didnt get to the rest of the years because they were wiped out
the date is when their fallen nation rises from the ashes to wage war on the countries of the earth (most likely. Zombie Mayans)

Doomsday...yeah, right. I think it's better chances to see Doomsday by AxKeeper released.

My closest friend told me he watched the movie or a documentary of maybe the title called, 2012(?). He suggested me to watch it and I didn't believe there would be the end of the world. I've been hearing about this end of the world thing (according to Mayans). I guess we must prepare ourselves before humanity dies, I think.

all this in the story,
everything, everything is repeated over and over, so time is ....
only left to draw their own conclusions.
and even if I wait and then follow the mugen living.

Perhaps a mystical force, will unite our world with other worlds in the multiverse and MUGEN longer a simple game for fans and everything will become real, through a catastrophic event which will decide the fate of several worlds.

This is nothing to be worried about, just supersticions once again, also Dev´s prophecy seems to be more fun to me

these predictions should perhaps serve to help us enjoy everything we believe important .. and not to run desperate and run screaming scared .. haha
