How exactly do you add pals to a completed character?

I've seen them recently & downloaded a couple.. "Deathstroke & Jubilee" for instance.
I haven't figured it out yet & been playing Mugen forever now.  How to?.. 2399657483  How to?.. 2649099129

you can open a character's def file and add the palette names in ( pal1 = ) coding .
