| I love creating things, plus my mom, dad, and brother are coders. Also my favorite type of video games are Sports and Fighting. | |

| For me whenever I played a game in the past I would always get an idea for something that I would enjoy seeing in the game but wasn't in the game at all. Mugen allows you to do the stuff you wish you could have seen in your favorite games or the stuff you would like them to do someday but haven't done it yet. - Spoiler:
A recent example of this would be for me is having Link (Zelda) wear a cape like Marth/Roy in that it would make Link look more like a classic Hero and Knight rather than an elf which I always felt was a little disappointing for me in the zelda games. You would think that a knight in armor or some kind of royal or warrior like attire would be doing all this heroic stuff in a story like this where a medieval hero saves a princess but instead we always play as a well known commoner in green. I just felt like he could have been just a little more rugged and tougher looking. So this is sorta why I like mugen in this example in that it allows me to create Link (Zelda) in a way where I can really personalize him like in those other games where you can modify or enhance your fighters. Another example for me would be not just visual changes but personality changes. I did a MegaManX character and I really liked the older aged western American megaman from the judge spears cartoon rather than the oriental astroboy knockoff. For me megaman needed to find his own identity and that really can't happen in the old MegaMan games because he's basically astroyboy's clone in almost every way in that series. In MegaManX series the character made a positive change in that he finally became different from astroboy by appearing for the first time as an adult like robot (or android rather but it depends) which in my opinion finally gave him an identity of his own. I liked the judge spears version because MegaMan was older and it changed his personality from kid to young adult. The east kept megaman cute but the west made him a dude. (the east has a bad habit of making boys look like girls ) So with mugen, again, I could finally have MMX as the more original/masculine/mature incarnation that I could not get from the past games at that time. Another reason why I like mugen editing is that you can make the rules when making a fighter. I did a Samus character and as a fighter a character like this doesn't typically use a jump button but mugen allowed me to make Samus play like her snes side-scrolling shooter counterpart which in my opinion makes Samus fight even better than a typical 6 button fighter in that a 6 button fighter is unable to reproduce the effectiveness of a shooter based character which relies on using their environment to wall climb and wall jump to effectively fight off a foe or quick dashing and dodging which a shooter needs to do since shooters usually don't attack well at close distances.
So mugen is amazing in that it gives you no limits.

| well since ive been a part of the mugen community since 2001 , for me i always wanted to give back to something that has given so much fun for me , i was never able to create characters ,so i tried my hand at stage making, and did , ok job, but my tru passion as im sure ALOT of u know is Pallet making,i just love it , its awesome to create strange new color combinations to make the characters look cooler , and ive released over 350+ Pal sets to the public, unfortunately i dont actually play mugen much anymore, but i do continue to collect Mugen chars & warehouse them for future mugen fans | |

| its a way to improve my natural talents and get better at them and as a child I've always wanted to make a marvel vs game without Capcom which purposely made their own characters out match marvels its a fighting game I can nitpick on and change to my liking ive even done private edits to characters I've found faults within (playing games are fun but making them is even better) | |

| In mugen, there is no limit, you can create from simple characters with a good overall to cheap characters (do'h i hate them), or huge awesome bosses like bagan, or apocalipse | |

you sounded an awful lot like me there, except substitute the yr 2009. ever since i've found mugen, for lack of a better term, i've had this need to try and provide and build a cohesive community for people that have similar mugen interests. i've made mistakes along the way in doing that, but i'm always striving to try my best to do that for whatever community i'm most associated with | |

| I was a gamer during my younger years. I played both arcade and console game. it was my hobby, and some passion I might add. and I notice in some arcade fighting game that my favorite characters is missing. since I discovered MUGEN is capable in creating my desired character. I urge my self to study it. and now I am creating character I desired and soon to be finished and I must say it was fun and very enjoyable | |

| Dream matches is my main reason of playing MUGEN. And, I don't have access to many next-gen fighting games, and some cool MUGEN authors have made some MUGEN stuff from those next-gen fighting games, this is another reason. Moreover, many creative original MUGEN contents that make me "WOW!". Last but not least, MUGEN is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! | |
