i've not been able to comment on youtube in i don't know how long.

i've tried and it takes me to some thing with screenname in relation to google+. can you only leave a comment on a video if your youtube account is connected to a google+ account?

yea,you need one to comment.
If you made a youtube account using Gmail you automatically have a g+ account
