There are 2 ways to know if you have a personal message waiting for you in your mailbox here. First, you can look at your profile box that is located near the top left corner of every page right underneath the Google Translate tool. An example can be seen here:
You will also know if you have mail by looking at the toolbar near the top of the website underneath the banner. Here are 2 examples:

Please notice how one will say, "New Mail" with a "!" above it and the other will say "Mail"
When you mouse over Mail tool in your toolbar, you will get a message telling you either how many messages are waiting, or telling you that you have no new mail. Examples:

When looking at your inbox, if you ever see the following image next to a pm, that means it has not been read by you...

We do have a limit placed on what you can keep in your mailbox, so please try to keep whatever not needed later on deleted. The limits are:
- 200 posts in your inbox (if you get to this limit, you cannot receive new personal messages)
- 200 posts in sentbox
- 200 posts in outbox (as people read what you have sent, this will clear itself)
- 200 posts in savebox (so if there something you want to keep from your inbox, move it here by clicking the save message button)
Other good info:
- Wondering if whoever read a pm you sent? Check your Outbox. If you still see the message you sent, then they did not yet read it. If the message is not there in the Outbox, then they have in fact read your personal message to them
- Another way to know if your pm was read is by checking in your Sentbox
- If you sent a personal message but then later decide you wish you had not sent it, it is possible to keep your recipient from seeing it if they have not yet read it. Go into your Outbox and look for the message. If you can find it there, that means they have not read it yet and you have the opportunity to remove it before they can read it
- If you sent a personal message to someone but later remembered you wanted to say more or to say something else, it is possible to change what you said if the recipient had not read the pm yet. Go to main, then into your Outbox and click the message. There will be an option to edit the message if you so choose
- Many previous personal messages with your recipient can be seen in conversation form when you scroll further down the page
- If want to send a personal message to more than 1 person, click the little '+' symbol next to the first recipient and then add the new name in the box that will appear. Continue until sending to all the people you are intending the message to go to
- Email notification only happens on the first personal message you get when logged out. This is because the forum software does not want to fill up your email box. Due to that, if/when you get 1 email notification, you might have more than 1 personal message waiting for you
