Mortal Kombat: The Chosen One (OpenBOR Game RELEASE by Dantedevil)

A very interesting beat 'em up loosely based on the Mortal Kombat universe.
Beyond my attempt at the first few levels, there are many features that can be found in this DEMO:
- 12 characters selectable from the beginning (Carolina, Liu Kang, Raiden: Kitana, Tusk, Jago, Fulgore, Orchid, Midas, Batman, Robocop and The Chosen One).
- 8 Missions composed of 44 levels.
- Multiple paths, which will affect the course of the adventure.
- Each mission has a Bonus Stage at the end.
- 4 fatalities for hero, in addition to No Mercy.
- Weapons, Knives, Bats with nails, with which you can execute the enemy.
- New Stage Fatalities.
And a lot lot more... Also it is convenient to mention that there is an alt version in Spanish.

The ultimate battle is about to begin. The universe has chosen a new warrior to save the realm. She will be endowed with incredible strength and the power of each element, but even she can't do this alone. Fortunately, she won't have to. The best of the best are here to help. Chose a fighter from across the Mortal Kombat Universe, joined by Killer Instinct, Robocop, Batman, and many others.

Unleash an endless arsenal of techniques to bring down your enemies. When an opponent is at your mercy, finish him with one of several gruesome fatalities. Be warned, this gauntlet will test more than your might. Bring a keen mind to defeat the challenging traps and puzzles you'll face along the way.

STORY MODE
It is divided into 3 episodes, only the first one is available for this demo.


ARCADE
This is a simplified version of the "Story Mode", whith the three episodes.
Contains: much less levels, less traps, just a few alternative paths and puzzles.
Only the first one is available for this demo.






TOURNAMENT
There will be 5 modes to choose from, but in this demo only "CITY KING" will be available.
- Classic combat 1 vs 1.
- The 1st to win 2 rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.
- 15 rivals to beat, with 400 hp (each one).
- Opponents with high level of aggression.
- You start with 80 hp.
- After defeating 2 rivals you get a bonus + 10 hp.
- For the last rival you will have 160 hp.
- "SUPER ATTACK", "NO MERCY" , "FATALITY" all is off.




VERSUS
There are 5 modes to choose from:




NORMAL
- Classic combat 1 vs 1.
- choose the rounds you must win, 2 or 3.
- The 1st to win those rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.

SPECIAL
- Classic combat 1 vs 1
- choose the rounds you must win, 2 or 3.
- The 1st to win those rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.
- a special random item appears and acts according to the image shown under the timer.
When it reaches 0 it explodes with this effects:

STREET FIGHT
- Classic combat 1 vs 1.
- Choose the rounds you must win, 2 or 3.
- The 1st to win those rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.
- A special box drops randomly and may contain weapons or health.
- Bikes, cars and even rolling barrels will appear in the middle of the fight.

INTRUSION
- Classic combat 1 vs 1.
- Choose the rounds you must win, 2 or 3.
- The 1st to win those rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.
- A random boss will spawn in each round, with infinite health and very high aggression.

DEATMATCH
- Classic combat 1 vs 1
- Choose the rounds you must win, 2 or 3.
- The 1st to win those rounds will be the winner.
- There is no time limit.
- In each round there will be different traps and you must move carefully to survive.


ROYAL RUMBLE
There are 5 modes to choose from:



30 IN RING
-2 modes: "normal" - last one standing wins
-"co-op" - the last 2 players standing will win
- Up to 30 fighters will come to the ring
- Balanced enemies, low aggression, hp 300
- 8 enemies on screen maximum (+ players)
- Throw the enemies far off the screen to eliminate them fast.
- Every 8 enemies eliminated, a health item
- "SUPER ATTACK", "NO MERCY" , "FATALITY" all is off.

50 IN RING
-2 modes: "normal" - last one standing wins
-"co-op" - the last 2 players standing will win
- Up to 50 fighters will come to the ring.
- Average enemies, medium aggression, hp 250.
- 10 enemies on screen maximum (+ players).
- Throw the enemies far off the screen to eliminate them fast.
- Every 10 enemies eliminated, a health item.
- "SUPER ATTACK", "NO MERCY" , "FATALITY" all is off.

80 IN RING
-2 modes: "normal" - last one standing wins
-"co-op" - the last 2 players standing will win
- Up to 80 fighters will come to the ring.
- Hard enemies, high aggression, hp 200.
- 12 enemies on screen maximum (+ players).
- Throw the enemies far off the screen to eliminate them fast.
- Every 8 enemies eliminated, a health item.
- "SUPER ATTACK", "NO MERCY" , "FATALITY" all is off.

SPECIAL
-2 modes: "normal" - last one standing wins
-"co-op" - the last 2 players standing will win
- Up to 60 fighters will come to the ring.
- Hard enemies , medium aggression, hp 300.
- 13 enemies on screen maximum (+ players).
- Throw the enemies far off the screen to eliminate them fast.
- Every 10 enemies eliminated, a health item.
- "SUPER ATTACK", "NO MERCY" , "FATALITY" all is off.
- A special random item appears and acts according to the image shown under the timer.

TRAINING
There are 5 modes to choose from:




FREE
- Here you can practice all the movements freely.
- There is no time limit.
- You take no damage.

COUNTERS
- Learn the different counters in 10 levels.
- Complete the level before time runs out.
- "counterattack" - 3 levels.
- "counterknife" - 3 levels.
- "counterbomb" - 3 levels.
- Final level - you must use all counters.

EXECUTIONS
- Learn all the ways to execute enemies:
- FATALITIES.
- NO MERCY.
- WEAPON FATALITIES.
- OBSTACLE FATALITIES.
- STANDARD STAGE FATALITY.
- SPECIAL STAGE FATALITIES.
- STAGE FATALITY.

PUZZLES
- Learn the different puzzles and their mechanics:
- Numeric panels with passwords.
- Escape Rooms.
- Puzzles to assemble.
- Mazes.

LESSONS
- Learn all the basic moves to master the game.
- There is no time limit.
- You take no damage.
- Get some tips when completing the lessons.


PARTY
There are 5 modes to choose from:




STRIKEBALL
- Here we have a field with a goal on each side.
- Hit the ball to score to score in the opponent's goal.
- 3 min Match , you can't cross the middle of the field.
- If there is a tie, there is an automatic overtime.
- There are 2 game modes:
"Co-op" - 2 players only (P1 and P2)
"Versus" - 2 a 4 players

SHOOT 'EM UP
- Aim and shoot the targets (1 point).
- This special objective will give you 3 points.
- This special objective will subtract 2 points.
- You must reach a specific score to win.
- You can choose: 50 points / 99 points.

BOWLERS
- This game is a mini bowling for 4 players.
- The first player to knock down all 16 pins wins.
- Adjust your shots with the shadow of the ball.
- There are 2 game modes: "NORMAL" and "EXTREME".
- In "Extreme" there is a big ball that moves.
vertically and can block your ball.

HITMASTER
- Here you must destroy each target (1 point).
- We must reach a specific score to win.
- 2 modes: "Factory" : 25 pts. / "Batcave" : 50 pts.
- "Factory": 3 types of barrels will drop.
normal: the classic standard barrels.
blue: when broken they freeze (short range).
red: when broken they explode (long range).
- "Batcave": Holograms of enemies appear for a limited time randomly.
- Damage between players is active (inf. health).

GHOST TRAP
- A ghost is lurking and you cannot eliminate it.
- During crouch ("block") he can't see you.
- If he sees you, he will attack you from afar.
- The attack leaves you petrified for 6 seconds.
- You can dodge it with"dash".
- Your goal is to destroy the stone gargoyles that drop randomly and contain souls.
- You must reach a specific score to win.
- You can choose: 15 souls / 30 souls.
- No damage between players.


BONUS RUSH
There are 5 modes to choose from:




DESTROYER
-10 Stages.
-3 lives.
- Destroy all obstacles.
- If time runs out, you lose.

TEST MIGHT
-10 Stages.
-3 lives.
- Concentrate to break each object.
- Press "attack" to stop the marker at every red line.
- If you stop it out of place, you lose.
- If time runs out, you lose.

SNAKE EYES
-10 Stages.
-3 lives.
- Test your sight and choose the right one.
- You must locate the hidden coin.
- If you choose the wrong, you are dead.

KILL 'EM ALL
-10 Stages.
-3 lives.
- Aim. shoot and eliminate your enemies.
- Prevent enemies from passing the barricade.
- If an enemy reaches the hostages, you lose.

TIME RUN
-10 Stages.
-3 lives.
-Run to reach the finish line.
- You will go through obstacles and traps.
- If time runs out, you lose.

UPDATES: New background in select screen, which reveals the activated characters on the circular tiles,

There is also a specific background for VERSUS and PARTY modes, which tells us, "wait for another player".

Finally after so many years, I decided to update one of the first things I had created and I mean the intro with dialogues.
I have created completely new scenarios for the main scenes, and even some new ones.
Now the dialogues are not gifs, but work with the game's dialogue system.
But the biggest change that I introduced, is that the intro is now playable and we control Carolina with her original design, before changing costumes.
Now the new playable intro is finished!
This will be available soon, in a new demo!

That's cool. It makes new players pay more attention to the backstory instead of just skipping the intro.
