Devilman (JUS)

This is a really rough WIP of a Devilman for JUS styled gameplay. I'm not sure the proportions are really JUS styled, since I just sketched a body from scratch. I'm really new to sprite art and would appreciate any feedback! After I finish this I might do more weird stuff, like maybe Kaneda, Harlock, Robot Keiji K, or Maggie and Hopey from Love and Rockets.

Not really, I did reference this Kenshiro sprite to get the head size correct

However I couldn't find a good crouching JUS sprite, so other than that I got the pallet from Devilman Crybaby, and referenced this picture.

I'm guessing I did something wrong though. Should I have used a character base?

I guess that makes more sense than what I was planning. I was just gonna animate everything from scratch, since I was assuming that's what people were doing. This actually makes more sense than drawing 1000 or so frames by myself. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to finish this one pose as practice, and then try to figure out where to go from there.

I'm not sure I should bump this topic since I'm definitely just an amateur biting off more than I can chew, and haven't done anything yet. Though I decided while I like JUS style gameplay, I don't like the sprite size. I'm going to try to redo Devilman as a CPS-3 styled sprite using Cody from Street Fighter Alpha 3 as a base.

I also made an outline of what I hope I can accomplish slowly... very slowly. It's basically just a roster for a fangame of weird manga I like. Paying respect to classics like Ishinomori and Tezuka, up to modern stuff like Shuzo Oshimi, Inio Asano, and Daisuke Igarashi. I'll try to actually show something worth posting about tomorrow.
