Field Report - You Don't Have to Massage the Ego of Nobody

This is the type of topic who don't catch the interest of the common Mugen fan, but I don't care for the popularity of this topic. Happened some things in this process, and I'd read some field reports of the PUA community who gave me the inspiration for to write this story.

The day before yesterday I finished a sprite of Benimaru with the clothes he wears in KOF 14, and I decided to give it to a friend who wants to edit some characters so they look like the versions of this game.

He seemed very discouraged by this project, because, according to him, he did not have the time nor the necessary help to continue the project, besides feeling judged and criticized by some people who were consulted by him.

I understand what he's going through, because I've lived a large part of my life based only on what others think, but now I see things in another way, and I'll demonstrate this with another story:

A week ago, a guy from Hong Kong saw a Uni-08 sprite made by me, liked it and asked for me if I wanted to make a full character based on her.

If that happened a year ago, I would accept the proposal because I'd believe that the Hong Kong guy would give support and approval, but it would happen to me in a short time was to accumulate unnecessary stress and pressure, and I doubt that in that state I'd do more of 10 sprites, in an optimistic prediction.

But now, I gave a frank answer: I want to turn her into a Mugen char, but she is in a very early planning process, and that I wouldn't rush the process.

I hope that both you and my friend will realize one thing:
THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MASSAGE THE EGO OF NOBODY.

Every sprite I do is an expression of how much fun I have in creating worlds and personalities; and I know that waiting desperately for criticism, help, or support from other people would show that I am willing to give up everything I believe to please a person, or group.
And believe me; this demonstrates a low self-esteem and shows that you have little value as a person.

These are defects that anyone who dares to do something new can't demonstrate. Be a creator of mugenic content, or an alpha male who pick up lots of women.

And that I hope you can answer two very important questions before you do any mugenic content:

1 - WHY DO I WANT TO DO THIS?
2 - WHAT DO I WANT TO DO THAT?
