How did you learn English?

I am a Chinese and I live in China and English is not my native language.

I visited many more English video game web sites (including MUGEN web sites) and tried to read and understand English as much as possible, because without some English knowledge I could not get the most of the goodies. 

I also learned English by working on some English-movies-to-Chinese translation many years ago.

I was given the English scripts of some English movies, and I used a dictionary and online translator to translate the English movie scripts to the Chinese movie scripts......but I still needed big help from some of my friends who studied more English than I did.......

Nowadays I can read and write simple English (yet I know my English still has a lot of errors... ), BUT, I don't know how to speak English and to understand spoken English at all............"yes" / "no" / "thank you" are already my best..........

Overall I like the language -- English -- without it I could not have had so much fun in English MUGEN forums like the Great MMV!

I Had been in English medium school from the beginning . . so English wasn't a Problem for me . . but after I left school it was little difficult for me to cope with non English atmosphere in higher educational institutes . . since they prefer native language more for teaching ( except the ones in big cities / international ones ) . . . so my English skills are not bad when it comes to speaking in real life . but not too good to access fluency . ...anyway the more you learn . the better . .I'm learning Spanish these days . .from Google translate as well as video games ( total overdose , GTA Vice city , GUN ) . I am just at the beginning level of learning .I hope one day I can speak both as well as many other languages fluently
I want to learn German , Russian and Chinese as well as Japanese If I can .

I learn as a kid by playing videogames, and watching movies subtitled, then in the school...but i think i learn more playing videogames

of course since 8 years old I see movies, tv series etc etc...anyway my english is very shittie. hahahaha

appears good to me though . ..anyway its not about grammar or fluency when it comes to communications friend . understanding matters ...

I'm Filipino. English is pretty much our second language here.
I've been speaking English for as long as I can remember, but I think I started learning it when I was around 4 or 5.

its good to learn multiple languages , you can easily familiarize with people and learn about cultures and modern day styles from another countries . . without much problems . . ! . .
I guess that's why it is said . . knowledge is power .

In Egypt Arabic is our first language and English is the second we learn it in school

Learned English in private school, cuz public education is not good here in Brazil.

Private school, plus a lot of english reading in the Internet.

To be honest, I don't know.

I don't remember how, but now I'm good at English. Even when I'm thinking, I speak English in my head.

I'm Indonesian by the way.

Not sure, cant remember :/,probably because when i was 6 i watch alot of cartoons(english cartoons)

Of course, watching series and movies in English help to get the proper pronunciation. But if you already have some vocabulary and grammar knowledge, I think the best choice to improve your English is having regular meetings with native people and have a nice chat with them.
